Safeguarding and Child Protection

Pond Meadow is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We expect all staff, governors, visitors and parents/carers to actively support this commitment. This includes doing everything we can to protect our children in school, at home, in the community and online.

Pond Meadow Academy Trust believes that it is unacceptable for any child or vulnerable person to experience any form of abuse and we recognise our responsibility to safeguard them.

Staff, governors, visitors, parents and carers are provided with guidance to follow, should they suspect a child or young person may be experiencing abuse or be at risk of harm. We work co-operatively with other agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Concerns about pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the pupil’s welfare. If you see anything that gives you cause for concern on our school site, out in the community or at home, you have a duty of care to report it to our school Safeguarding team. Please see below for contact information for our Safeguarding team and other useful numbers.

In dealing with concerns or allegations about a member of staff or a volunteer, please report it immediately to our Headteacher, Emily Hayward.

If an allegation is made against the Headteacher, the concerns need to be raised with the Chair of Governors as soon as possible. If the Chair of Governors is not available, then the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) should be contacted directly.

Please see our Safeguarding and Child Protection policy, along with our Whistleblowing policy for more detailed information.
