Mental Health and Well-being

At Pond Meadow, we believe that positive mental health and emotional well‑being are the foundations for a happy, safe, and successful life at school and beyond. Supporting well‑being is central to our school vision and values, and influences all our policies, systems, and daily practice.
We are proud to have a skilled staff team trained to recognise mental health needs, provide early support, and signpost pupils, families, and colleagues to the right help at the right time.
Our Approach
-
We prioritise the well‑being of students, staff, and families in everything we do.
- We proactively build resilience, monitor concerns, and offer appropriate support when challenges arise.
- We understand that the work our staff do can be emotionally demanding, and we provide structures and support to help them maintain their own well‑being.

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA)
We have ten trained Mental Health First Aiders across the school, including teachers, teaching assistants, and school leaders.
MHFAs provide:
- A safe, non‑judgemental space to talk
- Early recognition of signs of difficulty
- Reassurance and practical guidance
- Signposting to professional services and resources
- Promotion of well‑being and mental health awareness across school
What MHFAs do not do
- Diagnose or provide clinical treatment
- Offer therapy or long‑term intervention
- Replace HR, line management, or safeguarding procedures
- Maintain confidentiality where there is risk of harm
- Offer 24/7 support (available during working hours only)
