Shared Learning + Remote Learning

We value our families, and we see each family unit as a crucial part in underpinning our school ethos of equipping our learners for life. Research consistently identifies that pupils achieve more when schools and Parents/Carers work in collaboration.

Shared Learning

Shared Learning

In order to support this partnership your child’s class team will send home activities on a Friday to be completed over the weekend. Please return these on Monday.

We appreciate weekends are often busy and would not want to hinder family time or social opportunities. If you are unable to complete the activities, the class team will continue to send them home until you are able to do so. Once completed, the class team will issue a new set of activities.

We appreciate your support with sharing learning experiences between home and school. If you wish to share any photos of your weekend or photographs of your child completing their shared learning activities we would love to see these and share their successes. If you are unable to print these yourself please email them to your child’s class teacher.

Shared Learning is offered to all pupils every Friday to complete over the weekend. For pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 this comes in the form of a Journal where we share and celebrate successes from the week, alongside a reading book.

As pupils progress through the school this will be replaced by a more formal piece of literacy/maths work which the pupils have been learning about in the week and a movement card or independence challenge.

The Upper School shared learning focses on independence, encouraging pupils to transfer the life-skills being taught at school into the home environment.

For more sensory learners we may provide Active Learning Cards. These are an opportunity to share some hands-on practical activities we have been learning at school with friends and family at home.

All pupils who wish to have a reading book sent home also have the opportunity for this.

Shared learning can also be sent home via our remote learning platform ‘Evidence for Learning’ which provides parents and carers with the option to upload photos of their child’s learning to their unique portal and view feedback from the class teacher. In other instances, it may be more appropriate to send home physical resources which can be returned to school the following week.

Thank you as always for your continued support and collaboration to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children.

If you have any further question’s please contact your child’s class teacher.

At Pond Meadow, we recognise that due to their Special Educational Needs (SEN), some students may find it difficult to engage with learning outside of the school environment. While we encourage all parents and carers to support their child with any shared learning they receive, we do not want to place any undue pressure on students and their families. Class teachers will work with parents and carers to adapt the shared learning offer for individual students who find it challenging to engage with tasks, however we realise that this may not always be possible.

Remote Learning

Evidence for learning

At Pond Meadow, should a learner require a remote learning offer, we would use Evidence for Learning (EfL) to provide tailored learning for the learner. We use EfL on a daily basis to capture pupil progress against their termly targets, as well as against Mathematics, Literacy and Wider Skills trackers. Parents and Carers can share photos and/or videos of their child's remote learning for their teacher to review.

For more information on our Remote Learning platform, please contact your child's class teacher, or consult our remote learning policy.
